Everyone needs inspiration, everyone needs to be inspired. A struggling
artist who wants to quit his calling meets a mysterious woman who shows him why he should keep going. With her help his eyes are opened to a new world where anything is possible.
SYSNOPSIS
Jonathan Sharp, mid 20s, desperately wants to break into the art world and become a renowned artist. And why not? His late mother not only encouraged him to achieve success in the craft – she herself was an illustrious painter! But when Jonathan submits another insipid painting for the umpteenth time to the harshly critical, childless curator, Gale Robertson, he encounters the most devastating pronouncement spinning him into a premature midlife identity crisis: “You are not an artist! Nothing you have ever submitted… has been remotely inspired.” Upon hearing this, Jonathan, despondent and confused, searches for the very source of inspiration to revive his work. However, memories of his mother’s defeat to cancer and personal self doubts leave Jonathan wondering if he was ever meant to be an artist. Just when he’s about to forsake life as he’s always known it and fade into a bland existence as a nobody, he meets the wildly interesting Auralee, a quirky, eccentric, captivating 20-something street singer/musician…. Auralee exudes an inviting creative essence that draws Jonathan, as well as many other ordinary, inspiration-seeking L.A. citizens, into her sphere of passion, life, and above-all, inspiration. Auralee has such a strong gravitational pull in her personality that when Jonathan lingers around her, it seems as though the world itself, or perhaps an entirely different world, revolve around her. But with bizarre humility, Auralee balks at the credit. Jonathan can’t escape the notion that Auralee may very well know the elusive origin of inspiration, although she’d never tell. She’d rather show. Together, the two embark on a “fantastic voyage” through Los Angeles, encountering people and things that before Jonathan viewed as ordinary, only now to discover that everything ordinary is just virtual veneer. As he observes Auralee and her bizarre practices, he slowly allows himself to believe that there may possibly be more to the mundane life he’s been living.
